C. Havrda Named Chairman of the Board for Guilford Savings Bank
Aug 12, 2013 |
Charles L. Havrda has been elected to the position of Chairman of the Board for Guilford Savings Bank (GSB), a $540 million, seven-office mutual bank headquartered in Guilford, CT. Havrda is a resident of Guilford and has been instrumental in his role on the Board since his election to the Board of Corporators in 1997 and the Board of Trustees in 2006, most recently serving as Vice Chairman.
Havrda succeeds H. Logan Page, III who served as Chairman for the past 14 years of his 44 years of service on the Board. During Page’s tenure, GSB evolved from a single-office savings bank on the Guilford Green to a full-service relationship bank serving the Connecticut Shoreline. He will remain a trusted advisor to GSB, graciously accepting
the status of Corporator Emeritus.
“There are very few people along the shoreline who are not familiar with Logan Page and his generous community spirit,” said President & CEO Margaret Livingston. “I have had the pleasure of working directly with Logan over the past fourteen years while he skillfully guided Guilford Savings Bank as Chairman of the Board. He is a friend, mentor
and leader, and although I will personally miss him, he has turned the GSB reigns over to an equally talented man, Charles L. Havrda. I look forward to working with Charles in his new capacity as Chairman of the Board, solidly positioning the Bank for the next 138 years as a strong and viable independent community bank.”
Havrda has been a business owner in the shoreline community for much of his life, prior to retiring in 2010. In addition to his role as Chairman of the Board for GSB, he serves on the Guilford Board of Selectmen, the Regional Water Authority Policy Board and the Board of Managers for the Soundview YMCA.
Also retiring from the Board of Corporators are long-time members Penelope Colby and past president of the Bank David Dudley. In addition, William Childress of Old Saybrook and Paul Sullivan, Jr. of Guilford have both been elected to the Board of Trustees after serving on the Board of Corporators.
Filling the Vice-Chairman seat vacated by Havrda’s election is Richard J. Beatty. Beatty, a local attorney, has served on the GSB Board for 33 years.
