GSB Community Donates $6,000 to Hurricane Harvey Relief in Houston

Guilford, CT (Sept. 14, 2017) -- Guilford Savings Bank (GSB), a mutual bank with six offices along the Connecticut shoreline, has matched $3,000 in patron donations dollar-for-dollar, for a total of $6,000 donated to support Hurricane Harvey Relief in greater-Houston.
"We've all seen the heartache and devastation that Hurricane Harvey caused in Houston and surrounding areas. People are in desperate need and, very likely, they will need assistance to help put their lives back together for quite some time," wrote Timothy Geelan, President and CEO of GSB. "When management received a plea for help from the Texas Bankers Association, which has set up a Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund (501c3 with all proceeds going directly to relief efforts), we knew we had to step up to the plate to help fellow community bankers address the dire needs of their communities. We are pleased our community stepped up and we were able to donate $6,000 all together."
Although there are many ways to help Houston recuperate, donations to other funds and donations made by other payment methods were not eligible for the match, which ran for two weeks.
