Volunteers from Guilford Savings Bank work together to lift a window onto scaffolding and prepare it for installation at a Habitat for Humanity Build.
On July 13th, the Guilford Savings Bank teamed up with Madison Cares to continue its exemplary commitment to the communities it serves. Dubbed the “GSB Communiteam”, volunteers from all areas of the Bank dusted off their tape measures, packed hammers and saws, and braved heavy rains in downtown New Haven to take part in Habitat for Humanity’s current build.
The team of bankers, with Executive Vice-President & COO Timothy Geelan at the helm, assembled in the early hours of the morning and worked vigorously throughout the day. The Bankers, turned builders properly installed windows, insulation and cement pads for the entrance steps.
Geelan was not at all surprised when the “official building supervisor” noted the fine work accomplished. “GSBers always give any project 150%, and when it comes to creating a better future for a local family, we make sure we do it right.”
Madison Cares' current build is one of four on the lower end of Congress Avenue in New Haven. The framing for the walls was already completed earlier this year on May 12th, with the help the Guilford Savings Bank team during “Raise the Roof Day” on the Madison Green. Now GSB has returned to help complete the future home of Denisse Santos and Jose Lopez.
"Enthusiastic and hardworking volunteers, like those from Guilford Savings Bank, work side by side with Habitat families to make the dream of home ownership a reality and to help build community in New Haven", said Maureen Lopes, President of the Madison Cares Board. "We are so grateful for their ongoing commitment."
